In 2021, we’re sharing a monthly chronological Bible reading plan that will help us grow and understand how the Bible fits together. We wanted to go ahead and provide the August reading plan so you can print it out and have it ready for the first day of the month!
This month we will continue to see the story unfold as we read stories of mourning, lament, and destruction; however these stories are not without hope and anticipation of restoration.
As we continue our journey, you will begin to notice the prophet’s words sound a different note, these are some of the most beautiful and powerful chapters in all Scripture. Here we find words of comfort, hope, salvation, and a promised future. We will read about God’s Servant, a theme that refers variously to God’s people as a whole, an earthly ruler, or the coming Messiah. The overwhelming message of this section delivers promises of God’s salvation. As you read, notice passages that speak of a coming restoration and anticipate what God would ultimately do in Christ. Enjoy and meditate deeply on these chapters.
