In 2021, we’re sharing a monthly chronological Bible reading plan that will help us grow and understand how the Bible fits together. We wanted to go ahead and provide the August reading plan so you can print it out and have it ready for the first day of the month!
Congratulations! We are about halfway through reading through the Bible chronologically. This month we will continue to see the story unfold as we read stories of kings and prophets including Amos, Hosea, Jonah, and King Hezekiah. As you read, notice how the prophets mixed calls to repentance, warnings about coming judgement, allusions to the past, hope for a brighter future, and promises concerning a coming One who would lead God’s people.
As you read, recognize the main principles that continue to be underlined: God is faithful to his people, but rebellion brings consequences. Take time to thank God for His faithfulness and forgiveness. Celebrate God as the only true help in life. As we see in Isaiah, He will bring judgement on the nations (see Isaiah 34) and will bring His people to a place of joy (see Isaiah 35). Identify and praise God for some blessings of His kingdom.
