In 2021, we’re sharing a monthly chronological Bible reading plan that will help us grow and understand how the Bible fits together. We wanted to go ahead and provide the June reading plan so you can print it out and have it ready for the first day of the month!
This month, we’ll continue our chronological journey through Scripture as we read all about how God was transforming His people into a kingdom. Now that we are halfway through the Old Testament (Congratulations!), we will continue to read the conclusion of King David’s story as he prepares for the reign of his son Solomon. As you read note God’s role as the main character and His faithfulness to His covenant with David. Notice the key role wisdom plays in the narrative. View the psalms as interludes in the story. Enter the story by joining the psalmist who prayed these songs to God.
Later on in the month we transition to the book of Proverbs. These proverbs present guidance for the way life should be lived. As you read Proverbs, you may be tempted to hurry over these brief, loaded statements. Each day slow down and think deeply about a few verses, perhaps even turning them into prayers for wisdom.
As you read, remember the role God’s covenant plays in the story. Take time to celebrate God’s Word and thank God for the blessings and guidance given by His Word.
