This month, we wanted our reading plan to center on the birth of Christ, but we also wanted to demonstrate how He radiates through the entire Bible. The story of Scripture—our story—centers on Jesus. The entirety of the Old Testament tells a story of a people in dire need of a Savior. The New Testament does the same, only in the New Testament we know His name.
So we’re going to read some passages we’ve read before this year. We’re going to read stories from Jesus’ family tree. It is, like most family trees, pretty complicated at times. God continually brings order out of chaos, light out of darkness, hope out of despair. We’ll see Him do that in the stories we read this month.
As we read, let’s keep in mind John 3:16—God sent His Son so that we might have life. For those of us who have found that hope in the midst of despair, let us be the lights in the darkness, teaching and discipling others to know Him. Let’s remember that He is with us always, to the end of the age (Matt. 28:20b).
