We love what so many organizations around the world are doing to help spread the gospel and demonstrate Jesus’ love to others. Once a month, we spotlight an organization on our blog so you can learn about their work as well.
We have less than a week until Christmas! If that just made you panic a little, don’t worry. We have a few gift ideas that are not only perfect as last-minute additions under the tree; they also give to organizations spreading the gospel around the world.
Compassion International’s gift catalog includes gifts like scholarships, Bibles, bicycles, and goats. You can print a card at home letting the recipient know what gift was given in their honor. Compassion works through local churches and Compassion offices on the ground in areas of poverty and hardship to deliver gifts to those in need.
Samaritan’s Purse also has a gift catalog for their ministry. We often talk about Operation Christmas Child and you can still adopt a shoebox to pay the cost for the gift to go overseas so a child can hear the gospel and receive a gift. You can also give other gifts like fruit trees or sending a missionary doctor to care for the sick.
Justice and Mercy International is another organization we love at Lifeway Women. Through their Christmas store, you can give to Moldova, the Amazon, and South Africa things like shoes for orphans, school uniforms, and mosquito nets. Our authors Kelly Minter and Angela Thomas-Pharr are both involved in JMI missions. The organization works to make justice personal.
Baptist Global Response is a Southern Baptist relief and development organization. They seek to demonstrate the love of Christ by helping those in need experience full and meaningful lives found in Jesus. They, too, have a Christmas gift catalog with items like baby formula, safe places for young girls, and cooking sets. Each page has the story of someone who is served by the ministry.
Perhaps you already have a gift for everyone under your tree. These organizations take donations year-round for their projects. If you have kids, consider getting them involved with giving back by picking out something from one of the catalogs together. Use the items available as a way to teach kids about other cultures! Ultimately, these gifts will remind us of the importance of giving to those in need in honor of our Savior’s birth.
