A Note from the Author of Very Good
Dear friends,
If you’ve ever wondered if God is for you, if the Bible is for you, or if the church is for you, then keep reading. The conversations we have around women and girls in the church can be confusing, discouraging, and even paralyzing. We want so badly to get this right: to truly understand who God says women are, what He’s called us to, and how we can serve Him right where He’s placed us. But with so many different voices—or sometimes no voice at all—what’s a girl to believe?
I wrote the Very Good Bible study because I wanted a comprehensive and biblical answer to offer women in my own church when they come to me with questions about the Bible and women. Whether it’s confusion over what the Old Testament Law says about women or Paul’s words about women in his New Testament letters, I want the women I know to be equipped with the tools they need to genuinely understand, believe, and live out the truth.
Here’s the good news: what the Bible says about women is very good. You don’t have to be afraid about what you’re going to find in this workbook or in the pages of Scripture. I invite you to dive into God’s Word with me in this study to see for yourself. I think you’ll discover that God’s heart for women and His call on us to boldly serve Him and others is going to be so refreshing, so freeing.
Cheering you on for God’s glory,
Jen Oshman
