Forum Prayer Exercise
Think about God’s character and His attributes. We have so many reasons to praise Him! He is loving, faithful, holy, and good. Close your eyes, lift your hands, and give glory and praise to God.
Now, lower your hands, stand up, and think about the people or situations that are difficult…the relationships that bring pain. Confess to the Lord the hurt and anger in your life. As you stand with your head bowed, ask the Lord to begin a work of healing in your heart so that you can walk in the freedom Christ provides.
Sit down and look back at where you’ve been. Think about your family, your history, and the experiences you’ve had that have brought you to this place. Thank God for His presence during the hard seasons, His blessing during the good times, and the fact that He will never leave you or forsake you.
Now, kneel in front of your chair (or stay seated and bow your head) and think about the situations you face. Ask for God’s will to be done. Ask God for strength to trust Him and walk in obedience and faith.
Finally, stand up and turn toward the back of the room. Pray for the people in your life who do not know the Lord. Pray for them to experience the love and redemption of Jesus. Pray for boldness to share the gospel and sensitivity as you speak. Ask the Lord to move in your family, church, community, and around our world.
