Whether we are thanking God for new friendships this year or celebrating the ones who have been right there for as long as we can remember—we have much to be thankful for.
Galentine’s Day provides a perfect occasion to celebrate these relationships as a reminder of the deep value of Christian community. We’re so grateful for the friendships we have with our sisters in Christ where we can support each other through prayer, encouragement, and shared experiences!
My favorite friends have consistently been a decade ahead of or behind me in this life. Having generational friendships have proven to be deeply meaningful and helpful. My younger friends keep me moving forward and growing in my faith, and older pals remind me that I will make it to the other side of tough days, weeks, and even years while seeing God at work through it all!
There’s nothing quite like your best gals who have your back, know the details of your day-to-day life, and who encourage you with truth. We are so grateful for the friends we can count on for that daily phone call to chat through all the things—the friends who know what you need and show up at just the right time. The group that stops everything to pray and encourage when that text comes through.
In the Bible, there are countless examples of women uplifting one another in faith and love. From Ruth and Naomi’s loyal friendship to the bond between Mary and Elizabeth, Christian women are called to love one another deeply, just as Christ has loved us:
I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
