In 2022, we’re sharing a monthly Bible reading plan that will help us grow and understand how the genres in the Bible work together in the overarching narrative of the Bible. We will read the Bible together in genres, including Law, History, Poetry/Wisdom, Minor Prophets, Major Prophets, Gospels, Acts, Paul’s Letters to the Churches, General Letters, and Prophecy.
We decided to read the Bible in these divisions because we want to renew our biblical literacy—a term that simply means that we want to know more about the Bible as a whole. Sometimes when we read a verse here and a verse there out of its context, we forget the overarching narrative of the Bible. We forget how one verse fits into the themes of its chapter, its book, its testament, and God’s story as a whole. We’re confused by what the passage says. We apply a verse incorrectly because we fail to look at the context in which it was written.
We wanted to go ahead and provide the May 2022 Bible reading plan so you can print it out and have it ready for the first day of the month!
