It is hard to describe in words how the last few moments of our Alaskan Cruise last year with Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell and 1,300 of our closest cruise friends felt. It was like being at the end of your favorite week at camp or weekend youth retreat with your best friends, and you know it’s about to end, but you don’t want it to—you want to savor those last moments. It felt like that. Within seven days, God had wowed us with His creation. We sang and worshiped and laughed and danced and were inspired by His Word. We saw whales and amazing wonders. We got to just be together and enjoy the beauty, the fellowship, and the food.
We were all full in ALL THE WAYS—literally. After the sweet and full way we all felt after the Alaskan Cruise with Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell, we decided to do it again and are trying out the different, but equally beautiful, coast of Maine next fall with Beth and Travis.
Part of the beauty of a Lifeway Cruise is just being together with fellow believers, but also being free to participate in all the other experiences available on a cruise with the people you love. Add to that the retreat-like atmosphere that togetherness creates. Being on a cruise ship for an event means you are literally all in it together for a solid week. You eat together, play together, worship together, and seek God together in His Word and in the setting of some of the most rugged, raw, and majestic scenery.
When you go on a Lifeway Cruise, every day starts with early devotions as a group. What a way to start the day! Focused on God and what He has for you is fulfilling in a way that is hard to put into words. I always take a journal on these cruises because there are so many cozy places to sit with Him, surrounded by His creation, and breathe. After morning devotions, guests are able to go their separate ways and enjoy some of the many adventures available. To end the day, it’s back to the ship for dinner together, worship, fun, and Bible teaching.
A cruise is so often about feasting, and while there surely is a lot of feasting, God always gives us a feast for our eyes and our hearts as well. I was not a “cruiser” until the first time I cruised to Alaska and got to experience everything I love—beautiful scenery, being with friends and loved ones, delicious food, amazing adventures, Bible-based teaching, worship, and a chance to grow in my faith! And guess what? Now I have been four times! And I’m not done. I will go back next year for our Lifeway Cruise with Steven Curtis and Mary Beth Chapman, and the Stronger. Cruise with Lisa Harper and Christine Caine and I’d love for you to join us!
