This monthly feature will give you the inside scoop on our events from backstage passes to interviews with our speakers, here’s what happens In Any Event.
Today, we’re talking about our brand new event, stronger.,an unforgettable 4-day adventure in the magnificent resort town of Beaver Creek nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We’ll be embarking on our adventure with Lisa Harper, Christine Caine, and Ellie Holcomb on August 20, 2020. But, before we start packing our bags, we wanted to ask Lisa Harper more about the trip and what “strength” means to her.
Lifeway Women: Where did the idea for stronger. come from?
Lisa Harper: I’ve always enjoyed stretching myself, whether that means learning to snowboard at 30, beginning to ride a Harley at 40, hiking 50 miles on the Appalachian Trail for my 50th birthday, or going back to seminary to begin a five-year doctoral program even though my brain has much less elasticity than my pants these days! So the idea of a sort of biblical boot camp—where women can stretch themselves spiritually, physically and emotionally—has been percolating in my heart for a long time. The fact that Lifeway and one of my best friends in the world, Christine Caine, jumped on board with the idea is a dream come true.
LW: What could someone going to stronger. expect?
LH: I believe we’ll be stretched and encouraged spiritually, physically, and emotionally. I’m confident old friendships will be strengthened and new friendships will develop. I hope our time together will accelerate each individual’s passion to fulfill God’s purpose in their lives. And most importantly, I trust we’ll walk away from Stronger with a clearer view of King Jesus and a deeper assurance of His love for us.
LW: Is there a daily verse you lean on for strength as a woman?
LH: There’s no single verse that I lean on, but my top ten list of passages would definitely include Psalm 139, Isaiah 43, Song of Songs 4, and Luke 15.
LW: What do you as a woman find strength in?
LH: The consistent presence and unconditional love of Jesus Christ, genuine friendships that have stood the test of time, and fresh table-side guacamole.
LW: How do you encourage others to find strength?
LH: I don’t actually encourage others to find strength in themselves; I encourage people to run, walk, limp, or crawl to Jesus because He alone is our source of strength, hope, peace, and joy!
