As we strive to Know His Word more deeply in 2018, we read the Bible together in sections. Our hope is that together we could see how each book of the Bible fits into the overarching story of Scripture. On the first day of each month, we walked through a different biblical section together. Our reading concluded with Revelation last month.
This year, we hope you enjoyed getting to know the whole story of Scripture through the selected readings in each section of the Bible in the Know His Word reading plan. We loved getting to see how each book from Genesis to Revelation told the story of God and His love for His children.
We didn’t read every single verse, but got an overall view of the Bible and the people who make up our history as believers. We saw God’s faithfulness to fulfill every promise. We learned of His sovereignty in the events and circumstances throughout His Word. We experienced the Word, alive and active, as it challenged and encouraged us. We hope this perspective helped you to know God better and love Him deeper for who He was, is, and is to come.
This month, we are going to focus on reading through the Christmas story—through the Advent of Christ. We will start, though, at the beginning. We will start at the promise that one day, God would send a Savior. We’ll see as we read how the thread of Jesus is woven throughout the story of God, reminders of a promise as we wait in anticipation. On Christmas Eve, we’ll read of the Messiah, Jesus, coming to earth as a baby to be God with us.
We’d love to have you join us for this last Know His Word 2018 reading plan. We’re calling it our Advent plan and sending it out a little differently than we usually do. You can sign up here. We’ll have a new plan next year with a different theme and aim, but the ultimate goal each time is that we know His Word in order to know Him. Thank you for reading His Word with us this year!
