Last Monday I shared Part 1 in this series called “Women’s Small Groups & Discipleship.” Today I want to give you some more tips for helping women in your groups grow as disciples:
- As you lead Bible Study, TALK about growing as a disciple.
- Share leadership responsibilities in your group. Have someone oversee outreach ministry and someone else oversee missions opportunities. Raise up someone to help you teach as a co-leader. Ask someone to take care of greeting new faces and make sure everyone has on name tags. Women love to be needed in the group.
- As you serve anywhere, always take someone with you. Perhaps you can ask a different small group member each time you serve to expose several different women to ministry opportunities.
- Any time you plan a ministry or event, train others to help you plan it. That way they feel vested in it and will even bring others.
- Include the Word in all you do, even if your small group is not Bible study per se. Always show biblical foundations for meeting together, praying, enjoying fellowship, and sharing faith.
- Make mentoring central as you minister to and with women (Titus 2:3-5). No matter what you are doing in ministry, it is always an opportunity to teach women.
- As you lead, pray for God to show you women who are ready to take the next step. Keep your eye on the women you lead, and God will make divine connections.
- Point out the progress being made in individuals or in your group. Sometimes when the steps are small, they may have a hard time seeing the progress unless you point it out.
Watch next Monday for the third and final post in this series!
