Because it’s the 20th Anniversary of Lifeway Women’s partnership with Beth Moore, we thought it would be a great opportunity to ask her some questions. And we’d love to share her answers with you! This is part two of a three-part series. Click here to see Part 1 and Part 2.
You’ve done Living Proof Live for 17 years. What keeps you motivated to keep going?
In God’s unfathomable grace and mercy, He has not allowed the fire to go out in my heart for His Son and His Word. He keeps stirring it up and oxygenating it with His Spirit and, because He wired me to teach, then I just can’t keep my mouth shut about it. Living Proof Live keeps me from going somewhere like the Dairy Queen, standing in the middle of the serving area, and saying, “Could you folks turn with me to the Gospel of Matthew and stand please while we go before the Throne of Grace in prayer?” Living Proof Live is less awkward.
Do you have a standout LPL event city or memory that hasn’t left you?
My most recent standout LPL memory happened at our final 2014 event which was in Billings, Montana. Toward the end of the last session, God prompted me through His Holy Spirit to kneel with my worship team on the platform and ask the women in that audience to stretch their hands out toward us and pray for us, for our love and devotion and faithfulness to Jesus, and for our events in 2015. They practically prayed the roof off of that place. The team and I clutched hands as tightly as we could and received those prayers with everything in our hearts. I can’t even type about it without emotion clutching my throat and tears burning in my eyes. It was a completely unplanned moment except by God Himself and I believe a divine transaction took place in the heavenlies through their intercession. I will love those women forever.
What’s the benefit of bringing a friend to Living Proof Live?
I’ve said so many times that I believe in events. I believe that something completely pivotal can happen when Jesus calls us away from our usual routines to a prepared place where every bit of our focus turns to Him and to His Word for an intense period of time. God can do that same thing anywhere and any day. He has done that so often for me at church on a regular Sunday morning or in my own prayer time on a regular weekday morning. But there is also something about getting away with Him into an environment that is closed off to the world and seeing what He’d say to me there through His Word. That’s what I’m hoping for when people bring a friend. I am hoping that, when the music begins, even if she has never before heard a word of that worship song, she will be overwhelmed with a sense of Christ’s presence. I’m praying that, even if we turn to a place in our Bibles she’s never seen, the words will suddenly be brought to life by the Holy Spirit in her heart and a light will come on for her. I’m praying that she has this stunning moment when she realizes that God not only so loved the world that He gave His only Son but that He so loved HER that He gave His only Son. And then I’m praying she receives Jesus and takes Him home with her.
If the friend already knows Jesus, I’m praying for her to have such a powerful encounter with Christ that she’ll know He is completely familiar with her heart, her fears, her challenges, her family members, and her hopes and dreams. I pray she’ll realize that the Bible is full of living words that still speak to the everyday experiences of people presently occupying Planet Earth. I pray that He’ll restore her soul, fire up her faith, confirm her calling, heal her mind, equip her for the next step of her journey and, more than anything else, send her away from that place loving the Lord Jesus Christ in a way she didn’t know she could.
