Today is Memorial Day — a day set aside for us to remember those who have served in military service. I’m so grateful for those who have served our country so well.
The Lord has been teaching me a lot about looking back and seeing His hand at work in my life. In Joshua 4, we see this concept in the form of memorial stones: “… take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, that this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever” (Joshua 4:5-7).
God didn’t want the people of Israel to forget what He had done for them. They needed a visual reminder of His hand in their lives. As I look back, I see moments when I’ve laid down memorial stones …
Salvation
Call to ministry
A specific word from the Lord
Turning from sin
A moment of surrender
The list could go on and on, but it’s all evidence of His hand. Sometimes, these memorial stones are only visible to you and God. As you lead, help the women you minister to see God’s hand in their lives. If you haven’t seen His hand at work lately, take some time to pause and ask Him to show Himself. He is faithful and He is for us! He’s working for our good. Some of you might not be able to help others see His hand until you can see it for yourself. Beg God to show up in your life and show you the marks of His presence. He will.
