One of the things I love about my job is access to the creation of new Bible studies for women. I am a Bible study leader for five girls in their early thirties, and my job affords me the opportunity to discover studies that we can do together in my small group.
Over the past few years, we’ve explored books of the Bible and completed both video-driven and book only studies from Lifeway Women. One of my favorites is Beth Moore’s Believing God. This study is based on the definition of faith, true faith, and not some kind of canned religion. Throughout the ten weeks, Beth asks the reader to memorize Romans 4. While we completed this study back in 2008, a passage from that chapter still stick with me:
“How joyful are those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered! How joyful is the man the Lord will never charge with sin!” (vv. 7-8).
Isn’t that beautiful? I want to wake up with that thought on my lips every morning.
Beth also teaches us to memorize a “Five-Statement Pledge of Faith”. For years, this has been taped to my bathroom mirror and my bulletin board at work:
1. God is who He says He is.
2. God can do what He says He can do.
3. I am who God says I am.
4. I can do all things in Christ.
5. God’s word is alive and active in me.
Say those things aloud today. Believe it. Believe God.
