I asked one of the young women on our Lifeway Women Training & Events team to write a post regarding some of our workshops she and others will be leading at our 2012 Women’s Leadership Forum. Lauren Farmer writes this post to get us thinking about young women’s leaders. Read below and send us your questions! You can us help develop the content for this workshop with your input.
Let’s be honest, being a younger woman leadership in an “older” woman world can be tough! Sure, every leader has challenges, but not every leader faces the same challenges. Just like each generation of leaders, as young women in leadership, we face unique challenges and issues, whether it is due to age, experience, family obligations, expectations and perceptions of others, etc.
I’m excited to share with you that we’re going to have the opportunity to discuss this important topic in a breakout session at this year’s 2012 Women’s Leadership Forum! If you’re a younger woman in leadership (or work with one!), you’re not going to want to miss this session. To help us prepare for this session we wanted to hear from you:
What challenges do you face as a younger woman in leadership? If you could ask an older (and by older I mean more experienced) woman in leadership any question, what would it be?
P.S. If you’re a younger woman in leadership, I would like to personally encourage you to come and be a part of the Women’s Forum! I can honestly say that it is one of the most valuable, encouraging and beneficial things I do in regards to ministry and calling each year. And, if you’re an “older” (again, I say older with a bit of trepidation … I doubt I would classify any of you as genuinely old!), invite a younger woman to come along with you! We will also have a special get together for young women to dialogue with Lifeway Threads leaders on young adult issues.
