I don’t know about y’all, but it’s almost back-to-school time in our family, and I may or may not have gotten a little misty-eyed about how quickly time passes when I was shopping for school shorts at Gap yesterday.
I mean, wasn’t it just a few months ago when I was shopping for onesies and lugging an infant carrier into the dressing room?
Oh, sweet nostalgia.
Anyway, today I’ve been thinking a lot about the challenges of parenting children in this culture, and a passage from Ephesians has popped in my head over and over again.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” – Ephesians 3:16-19
It’s a passage that’s been really meaningful to me since before Alex was born, and it seems like the perfect thing to pray for him as the new school year begins.
Are there any verses of Scripture that you love to pray over the children in our life? Anything that’s especially applicable to the beginning of school? I thought it might be encouraging and edifying if we shared them with each other.
