You’re invited this week to share in the joy of Jesus’s birth with your church family. Decorate candles as a reminder that the “dawn from on high will visit us to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:78b-79). Carry them with you to sing carols to members of your church family who are homebound.
Supplies
- Candles (tea or votive) in various colors
- Taper white or light colored candles
- Fine-tipped paintbrushes
Instructions
- Light the colored candles and allow the wax to melt.
- Dip your paintbrush into the melted wax of the colored candles. Use the wax as “paint” to create a design on your taper candle. Add 1-2 layers of wax to create a deeper color, wiping your brush of excess wax every so often to avoid buildup.
- Allow to cool completely before lighting the taper candle.
