Call me weird, but I really like school. As a child, I loved almost every subject, including math. Reading was my favorite and going to the local library was a normal outing. I even won an award in third grade from my local library for the number of books I read in their summer reading program. I know you’re impressed.
Even now, learning is an important aspect of my leadership development. While I organize leadership events through Lifeway, I still find time to attend conferences and am completing a seminary degree in May. The old saying, “Leaders are Learners” is a way of life for me.
If you are a leader—whether in your home, in your workplace, or in ministry—I want to give you four reasons you should consider attending one of Lifeway’s You Lead events this year. These are not just reasons you should attend, but reasons your entire group should consider these training opportunities. Even if you don’t consider yourself a leader, maybe it’s time you should.
1. You should attend You Lead because you want to be more effective as a leader. If you want to know how to reach younger women, want to know how to lead small groups, or want to know how to reach women in crisis, You Lead is for you. Each city has customized training with a variety of breakouts and formats. The two-day events in front of select Living Proof Live events provide intensive training and longer content. The One Day events before select Priscilla Shirer Live and Abundance events provide foundational training with shorter sessions and interaction with others.
2. You should attend You Lead because you want to network with other leaders who are like you. If you’re a ministry leader, you might often wonder how others are impacting women in their sphere of influence. By attending a You Lead conference, you meet others who share your passion and your calling.
3. You should attend You Lead because you want biblical perspective on leadership—not just what the world has to offer. There are a lot of leadership training opportunities, yet many of them don’t offer sessions from a biblical worldview. That’s a huge difference and one that sets You Lead apart from the others.
4. You should attend You Lead because you don’t consider yourself a leader. A lot of women have no interest in attending a training conference because they don’t think it applies to them. Yet, these training opportunities are for every woman—those already in leadership, those preparing for leadership, and those who don’t even see themselves as leaders in their current context. I would encourage leaders to make sure they bring someone who is a potential leader because this might be the event that spurs her to a new level!
