Because it’s the 20th Anniversary of Lifeway Women’s partnership with Beth Moore, we thought it would be a great opportunity to ask her some questions. And we’d love to share her answers with you! This will be part one of a three-part series.
On Marriage & Family
What’s your #1 marriage advice?
Be willing to fall back in love again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And yet again.
What’s the greatest challenge you face as a mother of adult girls?
Watching my children encounter and walk through the disappointments, devastations, betrayals, criticisms, and sufferings of life that no bandaid can fix. I can no longer rock them in my arms and sing to them until they still themselves and fall asleep, oblivious to the cares of this world.
What do you love most about being a grandmother?
The double portion of love: this glorious concoction of loving them for their own sakes and in all their distinctiveness and also loving them and being so fascinated by them because they are my child’s children. They will make certain facial expressions or say certain figures of speech that remind me so much of their mother. I am just nuts about them. There is nothing I don’t love about being a grandmother. My grandmother lived with us in my childhood home and she used to say something that my mother took up saying about her grandchildren and now I say it about my own: “We’re just drunk over these babies.” THAT is a healthy drunk if you’ll ever find one.
What do you want your legacy to be?
That nothing on this earth – no pleasure, no success, no possession, no pursuit, no person – compares to the glorious Lord Jesus Christ.
