When it comes to evangelism, a lot of women make excuses for why they don’t share the gospel with others more often. One of the common excuses is, “It’s not my gift.” But Jesus commands all of His people to make disciples, not just the ones with the gift of evangelism.
What’s the best way to help the women you lead step out of their comfort zones and share the gospel? One idea is to host a Bible study intentionally designed to encourage and prepare women to reach out into their worlds with the hope of Jesus.
Invite all women together for a Bible study about God’s calling for all of us to reach out. Perhaps you could name the study, “Uncomfortable.” Remind the women of you ministry that God does not call us to be comfortable. He calls us to go and tell others about Him.
Throughout the study, lead women in easy activities that will teach them how to get over the fear of reaching out. Some ideas include: taking gift baskets to teachers, handing out water at the ball park, taking cupcakes to the laundry mats, etc.
Then, offer quality evangelism training. Share examples of how God is using other women to reach out and share the love of Christ with those around them.
Lifeway has a great free resource that one of our trainers wrote to help women overcome the fear of sharing their faith. It’s all about telling your story.
