A few years ago our pastor started something at our church called Secret Church. It was on a Friday night, and as soon as I saw that it was a six-hour Bible study (seriously. 6pm until midnight.), I thought he might be disappointed in the turn-out. Because, you know, SIX HOURS.
But just like back in the early 90s when I thought the internet would never take off, I was so wrong. People showed up in droves. We now have Secret Church twice a year, and each time there’s a comprehensive look at a pretty broad topic (The Holy Spirit, Spiritual Warfare, The Old Testament, etc.). There’s also a dedicated time to hear testimonies from the persecuted church. What’s even cooler is that the Secret Church meetings are translated into a number of different languages, and the materials are distributed all over the world.
It’s such a simple idea. And by God’s grace, it’s impacting people like crazy.
Secret Church tickets (which just cover the cost of materials) now sell out in about 10 minutes, and the demand for this intensive time in the Word continues to increase. So I’m just as tickled as I can be to tell you that Lifeway will be simulcasting the next Secret Church on April 22, 2011 – Good Friday. The topic is Crucifixion, Salvation and the Glory of God.
Registration opens next week, and you can find all the registration information you need over on the Secret Church site.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments of this post. I probably won’t know the answers, but my friend Angelia will, and I’ll be happy to pass them along to her.
Have a great Wednesday, y’all!
